What every retreat includes

  • Accommodation and all meals, cooked on site
  • Small groups, so you are taught rather than watched
  • Daily body movement — yoga or similar — before rope
  • Ceremony and integration woven around the practice, not bolted on
  • Photos from your own practice to take home
  • Access to the online course as soon as your deposit lands, so you arrive prepared

Flights and ropes are not included. If you cannot travel with rope, tell us in advance and we will have some ready for you.

Retreat FAQ

Do I need shibari experience to join a retreat?+

Not for the beginners retreat — Shibari Retreat Luxe starts from your very first knot and assumes nothing. The suspension retreat is intermediate: you should already be tying before you arrive. If you are unsure which fits, email us and we will tell you honestly.

Do I need to come with a partner?+

No. You can come with a partner or join solo. On the suspension retreat, the solo price includes a professional shibari model dedicated to working with you all week, so you fully participate in every exercise.

Where do the retreats take place?+

On the Caribbean coast of Mexico. The beginners retreat is held at a luxury eco-resort near Akumal; the suspension retreat is held in a private villa near the beach in Playa del Carmen. Private retreats can be arranged at either, or at a location of your choosing.

What is included in the price?+

Accommodation, all meals prepared on site, every class and ceremony, the movement practice, photos from your practice, and access to the online course from the moment your deposit is received. Flights and ropes are not included.

How many people attend?+

Deliberately few. The suspension retreat is capped at 6 guests with a teacher for each couple during practice, and a private retreat takes up to 6 guests from your own group. Personal attention is the reason the retreats work.

Can I book a retreat privately for my own group?+

Yes. A private retreat is a full buyout of the format — a high-end private villa, the same team, the same structure — for your group alone, on your dates, with a curriculum built around your level. Private retreats start from $20,000 USD.

What if the dates do not work for me?+

Join the waitlist and we will let you know as soon as the next edition is scheduled. If you would rather not wait, a private retreat runs on your dates instead of ours.
